Woodstock is a Church of England Primary School based in Oxfordshire with 40 members of staff and 340 pupils. The Site Manager, Richard Graham, contacted us towards the end of 2019 because he wasn’t happy with the standard of cleaning being provided by his existing contractor…


“We had about four different managers, the cleaners did what they liked – there was no one watching over them or managing them. Issues were not dealt with by the cleaning company.”


When our Sales Manager, Jessica Loomes, outlined Rapid’s fully managed cleaning service, Richard was keen to find out more. He had invited three other companies to tender but felt that our management structure stood out from the rest.


“All three companies offered a very similar price but it was Rapid’s management structure, monthly audits and whole package, that really won it over for me.”


We inherited a couple of cleaners under TUPE legislation and we worked hard to retrain those cleaners but set clear expectations on standards. They eventually chose to leave.


“There had been ongoing problems with the cleaners but the previous contractor had not given much training or done anything about the issues. Anna was determined to turn things around.”


Richard is now rarely involved in the day-to-day management of the cleaning, as our Rapid team manages everything for him…


“Anna orders all consumables after liaising directly with the cleaners. They used to ask me to order for them but now I don’t have to get involved in any of that which has taken a lot of pressure off me.”


Employing and keeping good cleaners is really important to us; they are the ones carrying out most of the work and are representing us on site every day. We know how important it is for schools to have hard-working, reliable cleaners and we encourage all our Contracts Managers to build up good relationships with their cleaning staff which is one of Anna’s strengths:


“Anna is available any time of the day or night and if an area has been missed, she’s straight onto correcting it with the cleaners. It helps that Anna has a great relationship with the cleaners, they respect her and respond well.”


Richard has recently recommended us to a number of schools in the Oxfordshire area, which is testament to the service that Anna (Contracts Manager) and Eddie (Operations Manager), are providing in that area.
