In Support of World Environment Day 2022

Only One Earth

The global campaign for this year's World Environment Day is #OnlyOneEarth. Focus is on the need to live sustainably in harmony with nature, and our possibilities for shifting to a greener lifestyle through both policies and individual choices. “Only One Earth” was the motto for the 1972 Stockholm Conference. 50 years on, the motto is as pertinent as ever – this planet is our only home, and humanity must safeguard its finite resources.

As an organisation we are always looking for new sustainable improvements to add to our environmental objectives and are passionate about ensuring we are doing all we can to preserve our planet.

Did You Know?

The UK produces more that 100 million tons of waste every year. In less than two hours, waste produced in the UK would fill the Royal Albert Hall in London. Each ton (1000kg) of recycled paper can save 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil, three cubic yards of landfill space, 4000 kilowatts of energy and 7000 gallons of water.

Changes must be made, not just within the commercial cleaning sector, but in all industries. If we do not act now:

  • Temperatures will continue to rise
  • Frost-free seasons (and growing season) will continue to lengthen
  • More droughts and heatwaves (freak weather)
  • Sea levels will continue to rise
  • Loss of wetlands
  • Wildlife and loss of habitat

All of which will have catastrophic consequences on our world.

What Difference is Rapid Clean Making?

The latest IPCC report warns governments to make emergency changes to keep the global temperature rise to below 1.5 C with a 45% cut of carbon dioxide emissions by 2030. Tremendous changes are required in a very short space of time to reach climate goals and cut greenhouse gases.

We have continued to focus on reducing our impact on the environment in line with the IPCC report, doing what we can, where we can. Although small by comparison to the enormous task ahead, it seems appropriate to be announcing on World Environment Day, that last week we were awarded ISO14001 for the second year running. Our efforts include, but are not limited to:

  • Raising awareness of environmental impacts across the organisation
  • Continual training of all employees on how to reduce our carbon footprint
  • Working with our approved suppliers on providing customers with environmentally friendly products
  • Switching to environmentally kind cleaning products where possible

Every Little Helps

Rapid Clean is committed to contributing to the fight of saving our planet; a planet that humans have neglected with historic pollutions having a devastating impact. A united change across the globe is imperative to potentially reverse the damage made by man, and to give the next generation the learning tools and knowledge required to keep the earth thriving and alive.

It's our planet, it’s our responsibility to protect the environment and undo the damage created by man over decades. We are doing our small bit to assist in the plight, are you?
