The People Behind Every Clean Space
Every day, cleaners help create safe, healthy and welcoming environments for thousands of people. Whether it's preparing classrooms for learning, maintaining healthcare settings, supporting workplaces, or keeping community facilities spotless, their work plays a vital role in people's daily lives.
Yet much of this work takes place early in the morning, late in the evening or behind the scenes, meaning the people who make it happen don't always receive the recognition they deserve.
That's why Thank Your Cleaner Day is such an important opportunity to pause, reflect and celebrate the people behind the clean.
A Chance to Say Thank You
This year, we invited our customers to send thank you messages to their cleaners on site, giving them the opportunity to recognise the hard work, commitment and difference our colleagues make every day.
To make the celebrations even more special, every colleague who receives a customer thank you message will be entered into our Golden Envelope Prize Draw, with the chance to win a range of prizes.
The response was overwhelming, with messages highlighting professionalism, reliability, positivity and dedication.
Pride, Care and Attention to Detail
The Village Practice shared:
“Thank you, Eugene, for being the best practice cleaner. You guys are so wonderful, and I love seeing you always looking so happy and positive every evening. You both work so hard and we appreciate you both so much.”
Another customer said:
“Thank you for being YOU! Always bright, friendly and enthusiastic. You are a breath of fresh air, and we love having you working for us - thank you! 😊”
While every message was unique, a common theme quickly emerged: the positive attitude and professionalism our colleagues bring to work every day.
Another customer at a school said:
“Thank you for your hard work in always making sure our school is clean and fresh every morning for our learners. It makes such a difference that each new day starts with a spotless building, and it helps to set them up in a positive mood for the rest of the day".
Crowthorne C of E Primary had this praise to share:
“Thank you Rose, for taking such care of our school! I especially appreciate you cleaning up all the mess that my reception class make every day - playdough, sand, mud, crumbs, bits of paper etc, not to mention the toilets! You are always so smiley and helpful - thank you!”
For many schools, a clean environment is about far more than appearances. It helps create a welcoming space where pupils and staff can start each day positively and focus on learning.
Those Extra Miles Don't Go Unnoticed
Several customers highlighted the countless ways cleaners go above and beyond the tasks listed in a specification, stepping in whenever help is needed and becoming valued members of their site's community.
Medivance Instruments shared this message for John:
“Great job fella! You always turn up and do a wonderful job without any issues or problems. You even unblocked a toilet for us! It is much appreciated by everyone who works here so keep up the good work as I know it is a physically tough job day after day. People don't realise how hard cleaning is!”
William Ransom Primary School shared this special recognition for Raj:
“The team are superb, but I would like to mention Raj for special recognition. He is always on time, a good cleaner, never off work unwell and has two buses to catch to get here! The teaching staff love having him working in their area and this shows at holiday times where they all buy him little gifts. Well done, Raj!”
Although the stories varied, the message was consistent: the work our cleaners do matters, and it is deeply valued by the people who experience it every day.

“The work you do may sometimes happen quietly in the background, but it never goes unnoticed. Every day, you help create a clean, comfortable and welcoming place for all of us. Thank you for the care, pride and effort you put into your work.
