Good Luck George!

Suzanne Whitton • February 10, 2020

We love to celebrate the fact that employees are taking on challenges as well as raising money for charity. George Curtis, a new member of our sales team, has taken on a challenge that is very close to his heart; we wanted to support him by finding out a little more…

What is the run you are taking part in?

I will be taking part in the OX5 Charity run on Sunday 24th March in the grounds of Blenheim Palace. It is the biggest annual fundraiser for the Oxford Children’s Hospital which raised over £150,000 last year, helping to buy state of the art equipment at the children’s ward of the Horton General Hospital, Children’s Critical Care Unit at the John Radcliffe and Oxford Children’s Hospital.

Why did you choose the OX5 Charity Run?

This is a charity that is close to my heart. I was born prematurely at just 28 weeks gestation. I had sepsis, meningitis, fitting and heart murmurs. I weighed 2.5lbs and if it weren’t for the amazing care provided by the John Radcliffe Children’s Hospital in Oxford, I would not be here today.

What training are you doing in preparation?

I have taken part in a number of runs previously so know that training is key for endurance and stamina throughout the race. For this run, I have decided to join a local gym with state of the art cardio equipment, along with personal training, fitness and stamina classes.

How much money are you hoping to raise and how can people sponsor you?

My target from the charity was over £200 but so far I have raised an amazing £722! With 6 weeks to go until race day, I am hoping to raise over £1000.

Your sponsorship will really make a difference to thousands of children in hospital with a number of life-threatening conditions. Oxford Hospitals Charity transforms local hospitals by creating warm and welcoming environments for patients, with the latest specialist medical equipment.
