Our Chosen Christmas Charity 2024
At the end of every year we ask our head office staff to nominate a charity that they would like to support at Christmas. We always receive so many worthy nominations, and this year was no exception. We are pleased to share the charity who will be receiving our gift this Christmas...
Why We Chose Parkinson's UK
Our Payroll Manager, Sophie Herring, put forward Parkinson's UK, as it is a charity that means a lot to her and her family:
"This is something close to my heart as my dad has Parkinson’s, he has even participated in trials to help them get better understanding and hope of finding a cure. I would love them to be supported."
Parkinson's UK is the largest European charitable funder of Parkinson's research. They've invested over £100 million in vital research that has delivered groundbreaking discoveries, new medications and better care. And right now new treatments are within their grasp.
Parkinson's UK has a specific mission that they are looking to achieve by the end of 2026. You can read more about how they will do this here. Some of the things they will be focusing on include:
- Translate cutting-edge research into practical ways to manage Parkinson’s
- Review new technology and devices that can help people live better
- Provide information on the most effective exercises and therapies for people with Parkinson’s, at every stage of the condition
- Bring people opportunities to shape and take part in pioneering research.
We are pleased to be playing a very small part in helping Parkinson's UK achieve these vital goals.
