Chosen Christmas Charity 2021

For several years now, we have chosen to give money to charity rather than sending Christmas cards. We always enjoy this opportunity to give back and of course our environment also benefits, which makes it a win/win!

Our head office team was given the opportunity to nominate a charity that they feel deserves our support this year. The chosen charity for 2021, is Helen & Douglas House, a local charity that 'helps families cope with the challenges of looking after a terminally ill child who will die prematurely'.

Helen Douglas House

This charity was nominated by our Sales Manager, Jessica Loomes-Hart, whose friends' little boy Albie, tragically died of a brain tumour just a few weeks ago. Helen & Douglas House were an invaluable support not only to Albie but to his mums as well. This is what Hayley and Lauren had to say about the charity:

"There was an instant sense of calm when we got there, no hospital hustle and bustle. As much as Albie was the priority, the staff were really keen to look after us. They kept us topped up with snacks, tea, coffee and diet coke! We were given access to a flat to "take time out" and they stressed the importance of looking after ourselves.

They provided a lot of emotional support and have continued to do so after Albie's passing; we will have access to them for a long time yet. During the short time there, the nurses naturally adored Alfie and even after his passing, they continued to talk to him like he was still with us.

We cannot thank them enough for helping us through those final days and moments. We will be forever grateful for all of their support."

Albie

Helen & Douglas House provides invaluable support at one of the worst moments of people's lives. We are so pleased to be able to support them in continuing to do this amazing work.

Rest in Peace little Albie. Our thanks to Hayley and Lauren for sharing their story. If you would like to find out more about Helen & Douglas House, please head to their website and consider giving a donation to this worthy cause.
