How to Participate in Thank Your Cleaner Day™ 2022

Suzanne Whitton • Oct 12, 2022

Cleaners are an essential part of every workplace, something we were all acutely aware of during the recent pandemic. Despite this, their work often goes by unnoticed. Sadly this seems especially true if they are doing a good job.

Thank Your Cleaner Day

When Was the Last Time You Thanked Your Cleaner?

Our current team consists of 950 cleaners who work tirelessly, sometimes during the night, to ensure that your offices, schools, medical centres and leisure facilities, are ready to go the next working day.

Thank Your Cleaner Day™ was first introduced in New Zealand, back in 2015, by the local trade organization for Building Services Contractors (BSCNZ) in cooperation with Kärcher. This year, the UK is one of 46 countries participating.

We All Like to Feel Valued and Appreciated.

At Rapid Clean we will be thanking each of our cleaners personally. If you're a customer of ours, we would also like to encourage you to participate in this opportunity. Why not let your cleaners know that you recognise and value their work, and you are aware of their vital contribution to your business?

We've come up with some ideas on how you might be able to do that. Most of these will work even if your cleaner comes to your premises outside of working hours:

  • Write each cleaner a personal card or a letter of thanks, signed by the staff
  • Encourage each of your staff to personally say a word of thanks to the cleaner, using their name (sounds simple but it often doesn't happen)
  • Consider giving your cleaner a gift voucher for a local shop, restaurant or attraction
  • Feature your cleaning team on your company's social media using #ThankYourCleanerDay
  • Leave out some of their favourite snacks as a 'thank you' (you might need to use detective skills to find out what they are first!)
  • Create a 'wall of appreciation' in the cleaning cupboard - use sticky notes and ask your staff to write something encouraging

Whether you’re putting together a major gift basket or writing a simple Thank You card, a little bit of recognition goes a long way. If you do decide to participate in the day, don't forget to tag us on social media (LinkedIn, Twitter) and/or send us an email with a photograph to info@rapidclean.co.uk.
