Are all Cleaning Companies the Same? - Refocusing After Covid

Jeff Whitton • May 04, 2022

At least once a week our sales team hears the words: 'All cleaning companies are the same'. This is usually from potential customers who are disillusioned by the industry, and the service they are receiving from their chosen contractor.

Are all Cleaning Companies the Same?

It would be fair to say that the cleaning industry has a reputation for low wages and unappreciated workers, delivering a mediocre service at a high price. When Paul and I first started Rapid Clean back in 1999, we were determined to change this. Our long-term company vision remains the same today:

'Change our stakeholders' perception of the cleaning industry by recognising the value of what we do, and the difference that we make, evidenced by an increased demand for our services'

For our customers, suppliers and employees to see a difference in Rapid Clean, we need our daily mission to be lived out:

'Provide an unrivalled, fully-managed cleaning service, delivered by a motivated team of people who strive to continually improve'

In our annual company meeting last week, we focused on our mission and what makes Rapid Clean different from other cleaning companies. We have a number of key values that we believe sets us apart in this industry:

  • Focused – do fewer things to an excellent standard (rather than lots of things to an average standard)
  • Passionate - proud of what we do and the difference that it makes
  • Honourable - act with integrity, honesty and empathy
  • Respectful - everyone is equally valued, we look for opportunities to empower others.

The last two years have been challenging for everyone. As an organisation we have spent time building up a strong team of people who want to be here, and want to live out our mission and values. Last week's meeting was a great opportunity to refocus as an organisation.

We look forward to proving to our employees, customers and suppliers, that not all cleaning companies are the same!
